Infant/Toddler Program
“Education means teaching a child to be curious, to wonder, to reflect, to enquire.”
– Rabbi Jonathan Sacks
The Olam Jewish Montessori Infant/Toddler program is an adventure! The program serves ages three months to two years and offers very young children a unique year of development in a tender atmosphere of special understanding, respect and support. Of fundamental importance is the gradual separation of each child from his or her primary caretakers. We nurture the sense of trust, security and independence in each child. Our beautiful space is safe and designed to meet the developmental needs of the youngest child in our school.
Many of the activities in this program highlight the skills that lead to independence. Since this is an age of very strong imitation, the teachers constantly model appropriate social and language skills. The toddler program accommodates the very young child’s sensitive period for language by offering creative and intriguing concepts to expand their growing vocabularies. In our stimulating environment children learn to explore and discover. The children observe the older toddlers and are intrinsically motivated to do what they see them doing. Joining conversations, listening to stories, learning songs and expression through sign language all nurture their budding language skills.
The habits and skills which toddlers develop enhance their skills when they are graduating into preschool. These adventures are just the beginning!
